Sanitation to Raise Residential and Commercial Trash Fees

At the September 18, 2025, Sanitation Superintendent Cody Romohr discussed increasing trash collection rates and tipping fees. He stated that the current rate of $21.93 a month is significantly less expensive than other local companies. He proposed a five percent increase in curbside trash collection fees, raising the price to $23.03 per month.

This increase would generate an additional $50,000 to $55,000 per month to cover the costs of fuel prices, tires, employees’ wages, and inflation. Romohr also suggested increasing the cost of the tipping fee from $40 a ton to $45. He stated that this would still keep Wilmington’s prices cheaper than most other local landfills.
