"Mary Jane Johnson, the Public Relations Coordinator at PAWS Humane Society, Inc. in Wilmington stated, “The mission of PAWS is to encourage the humane treatment of animals including finding, loving, forever homes for unwanted cats & dogs through adoptions and to make a positive impact on the lives of animals with education and resources.
PAWS operates a shelter to house cats and dogs. Most of the dogs and cats that PAWS handles are housed at our Pet Adoption Center, but we also have several volunteers who foster animals on occasion that are in need.
PAWS is hosting four spay/neuter clinics for cats and dogs in 2024. At our most recent clinic held earlier in March, 51 cats and dogs were sterilized. PAWS does not receive funds from any public entity but is funded by donations, fundraisers, adoption fees, and grants.”
