At the September 18, 2025, city council members voted on a resolution in support of Ohio House Bill 182, a bill proposed by Representative Levi Dean that would prohibit public water systems from adding fluoride to city water. Representative Dean previously expressed that support from local municipalities could help the bill’s progress. After a brief discussion, the council members passed the resolution expressing their support for the bill.
The council members also had the third reading of Ordinance 25-55, regarding the repeal and replacement of Chapter 714. Chapter 714 discusses the city’s restrictions on “time, place, and manner” of when individuals may solicit and distribute material in the city. In addition to other changes, the replacement chapter lists the exemptions for those NOT required to have a license, which includes "canvassers". The chapter defines canvassers as: “Any person who travels from place to place by foot, motor vehicle, or other conveyance for the purpose of disseminating religious, political, social, or other ideological beliefs and who does not request funds for any commercial purpose or offers goods, wares, food, merchandise, or services for sale.”
