“We really try to dive deep… We want to just look in deeper to get to that root cause and start working on that to heal them from the inside out,” stated Jennifer Flanagan, Operations Manager at Anew Behavioral Health, located at 815 S South Street in Wilmington.

Anew provides mental, behavioral, and substance use disorder (SUD) treatment services in Wilmington, Ohio. The founders of Anew are clinicians from Xenia and Athens, Ohio. They began working in the mental health field and desired a different atmosphere. This led them to create their own “provider-focused” practice to serve predominantly rural areas. Anew has 11 locations in Ohio, including nearby cities Springfield and Xenia.

Anew offers individual therapy, family therapy, psychiatric services, nursing services, case management, care coordination, and telehealth options. Many of these services include counseling sessions, psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and health education. Case workers at Anew are also able to connect clients with “essential resources,” such as food assistance, housing, and more.

According to Jennifer, their individualized treatment plans and longer-term assessments set them apart from other mental health care providers. Through those, providers can “dive deep” and ensure their initial diagnosis is accurate.

Anew also services individuals with substance use disorders. They can provide mental health care, in addition to medications that can treat clients’ substance addictions. Additionally, Anew offers outpatient programs and intensive outpatient programs for both their SUD and mental health treatment.

In celebration of Mental Health Awareness Month in May, Anew is hosting an open house on May 30th from 9am to 4pm at their Wilmington office.

According to Jennifer, signs that indicate need for mental health care are significant grief, isolation, severe sadness, anger, lashing out, and lack of sleep even when tired. Jennifer mentioned that lashing out was an especially common sign in children. Anew even has a therapist who specializes in seeing children. They also have a nurse practitioner on staff to prescribe medications.
